The Secret Life of Plants was published in 1973. It counters everything we ‘know’ about the importance of plants and the soil. After reading it you will become familiar with the names, and the work, of:-
Cleve Backster, Marcel Vogel, Pierre Paul Sauvin, L.George Lawrence, Vladimir Karamanov, Prof.Gunar, Sir Jagadis Chandra Bose, Goethe, Gustav Fechner, Luther Burbank, George Washington Carver, Dr.T.C.Singh, Dorothy Retallack, Joseph Molitorisz, John Ott, Semyon & Valentina Kirlian, and many others.
Warning: you may never be able to look at conventionally farmed land in the same way again!
What is permaculture? The word was coined by Bill Mollison, who died the other day, and David Holmgren. It refers to a collection of traditional and not so traditional ideas of using land, and is highly appropriate for those who care about the environment.
The magazine describes permaculture as “an innovative framework for creating sustainable ways of living; a practical method for developing ecologically harmonious, efficient and productive systems that can be used by anyone, anywhere.”
